Minister for Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung, will attend the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Health Ministerial Meeting and High-Level Policy Forum in Paris, France from 22 to 23 January 2024. This is the first time that Singapore has been invited to participate in the OECD Health Ministerial Meeting and High-Level Policy Forum.
2. The OECD Health Ministerial Meeting convenes Ministers to address pressing global health challenges and collaborate on policy solutions. The theme for this year’s Meeting is "Better Policies for More Resilient Health Systems”, which focuses on policy challenges and developing strategic actions to ensure more robust and responsive health systems. The Meeting will also examine the impact of megatrends like climate change, demographic shifts, and increased digitalisation on health and healthcare.
3. The OECD High-Level Policy Forum on "The Future of People-Centred Health Innovation" will discuss the steps needed to improve health systems' performance measurement around patient experience. The Forum will also explore approaches to harnessing the transformative potential of health innovations, such as in genetics, genomics and Artificial Intelligence.
4. Mr Ong will be speaking as a panellist at the Genomic and Genetic Medicine Session and participating in discussions at the Health Ministerial Meeting and High-Level Policy Forum. He will also meet with foreign Health Ministers and senior OECD officials during the visit.
5. Prior to the trip to Paris, Mr Ong will visit Ireland from 18 to 21 January, where he will meet Ireland’s Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, and Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Dara Calleary. He will also visit Singaporeans studying in Ireland.
6. Mr Ong will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
