Hypertension is also known as high blood pressure.

Hypertension is commonly caused by increased intake of salt and ageing. Rarely, it may occur due to a stroke.
HOW TO TREAT AT HOME
Take your regular antihypertensive medications
Avoid excessive salt intake in your diet
Exercise regularly and get plenty of rest
SEE YOUR GP IF YOU HAVE:
Blood pressure readings consistently higher than your usual
Giddiness
Headache
GO TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING:
Weakness and/or numbness
Difficulty seeing
Difficulty speaking
Difficulty walking
Chest pain / Shortness of breath
Severe giddiness or headache
