National Population Health Survey (NPHS) 2020 Report
18 November 2019
The National Population Health Survey (NPHS), conducted annually by the Ministry of Health and Health Promotion Board, tracks Singapore residents' health, risk factors, and lifestyle practices.
NPHS 2020
This survey has tracked health and risk factors, as well as lifestyle practices of Singapore residents for the period of 27 July 2019 to 30 March 2020, has found that smoking prevalence has fallen, and screening for colorectal and breast cancer has increased. However, the Survey has highlighted some areas of concern, including the rising prevalence of hypertension and hyperlipidaemia, higher body mass index (BMI) and overall lower physical activity. The results of the NPHS are a reminder for Singaporeans to continue engaging in healthy lifestyle habits amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. MOH and HPB will continue its preventive efforts on various fronts, including in areas of concern that the survey has picked up.
