Situation Update
There is no new SARS probable case or death reported today.
Three patients were discharged, bringing the total number of patients who have recovered from SARS to 153 out of 204 probable cases. 23 patients remained hospitalised, of whom 9 are in intensive care.
New Suspect Case
There was one new admission today. It involved a 72-year-old woman who was admitted to SGH from 19 to 27 Apr and who was on daily surveillance by the hospital after the discharge.
New Observation Cases
There were 9 patients admitted today as observation cases. They comprise 4 patients who had travelled overseas; 1 worker at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre (PPWC) who was on home quarantine until 4 May and who was picked up to have a fever on screening at the PPWC yesterday; and 4 patients whose contact has not been established.

*Quarantine cases refer to those who are required to stay at home for precautionary reasons as they may have had contact with a SARS patient. These are healthy individuals.
# This is an added precautionary measure for discharged SARS patients as well as those with co-morbidities.

Travel advisory
MOH urges the public to heed World Health Organisation (WHO)'s advice to postpone travel to Hong Kong, Guangdong, Beijing, Shanxi until another time. We would also like to advise the public to avoid travel to other SARS affected areas - Taiwan, Toronto, Mongolia and the Philippines, unless absolutely necessary.
