Situation Update
As at 24 April 2003, 53 SARS patients remain hospitalised. There are 3 new additional SARS cases reported today.
The 3 new probable SARS cases are:
(a) 44 year-old male who was an inpatient of SGH ward 58. He had been transferred to TTSH on 7 April.
(b) the 72-year-old grandfather of the 3 children who was admitted on 19 Apr 03 as a suspect case.
(c) wife of the 72 year-old man who had died on 15 Apr 03. She is now included as a probable case as laboratory investigations are positive for SARS. Deceased is 67 years old.
Another SARS death reported today involved a 67-year woman. She was a family member of a probable SARS case who visited the SGH Radiology Department.
Update of Pasir Pasir Wholesale Market (PPWM)
There are 5 new suspects linked to the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market who were admitted today. Of the 14 suspects yesterday, 4 have been discharged and 1 has moved to become probable (this is the 72 yr old case). The total number of suspect cases linked to the PPWM is 14.
Change in MOH General Enquiry and Special Ambulance Service Telephone Numbers
Starting from 28 Apr 03, the MOH General Enquiry and Special Ambulance Service numbers will be changed to 1800-3339999 and 993 respectively. This is to make the hotline numbers easier for the public to remember. Calls to the old numbers would automatically be redirected to the new numbers.

Travel advisory
MOH urges the public to heed World Health Organisation (WHO)'s advice to postpone travel to Hong Kong, Guangdong, Beijing, Shanxi and Toronto until another time. We would also like to advise the public to avoid travel to other SARS affected areas - Hanoi, unless absolutely necessary.
