UPDATE ON LOCAL COVID-19 SITUATION (16 JULY)

As of 16 July 2021, 12pm, Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified that there are 53 cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, of which 32 belong to the KTV cluster. Of the 53 cases today, 24 are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. 24 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. 5 are currently unlinked.[1] There are 8 imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. 2 were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while 6 developed the illness during SHN or isolation. In total, there are 61 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore today. There are currently 7 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 1 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Summary of trends for local cases
2. Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 21 cases in the week before to 179 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also increased from 9 cases in the week before to 20 cases in the past week. The 7-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 22.7 and 2.9 respectively.

Summary of trends for imported cases
3. There are a total of 8 imported cases today. 2 were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while 6 developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

Active clusters under monitoring
4. There are two new clusters today. In total, there are currently 27 active clusters, ranging between 3 and 120 infections.

Community surveillance testing and closure of affected premises
Closure of Hong Lim Market & Food Centre and Jurong Fishery Port
5. MOH is investigating cases of COVID-19 infection amongst individuals who worked in or visited Hong Lim Market & Food Centre (531A Upper Cross St) and Jurong Fishery Port. There are so far 7 cases linked to the cluster. To break the chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises, Hong Lim Market & Food Centre and Jurong Fishery Port will be closed to all members of the public from 17 July to 31 July 2021.
6. To quickly uncover any community infection cases, mandatory COVID-19 testing will be conducted for all visitors to Jurong Fishery Port between 3 July and 16 July 2021. We will also extend free COVID-19 testing to members of the public who had visited Hong Lim Market & Food Centre between 2 July and 16 July 2021. Please refer to https://go.gov.sg/hlm-testing for details on the testing operations.
7. All visitors to the premises are advised to monitor their health closely, and minimise social interactions as far as possible, for 14 days from their date of visit or interaction. They are encouraged to see a doctor immediately if they feel unwell.
Closure of Khoi Grill & Hotpot
8. MOH is investigating cases of COVID-19 infection amongst individuals who work in or visited Khoi Grill & Hotpot (283 Jalan Besar). There are so far 7 cases linked to the cluster. To break the chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises, Khoi Grill & Hotpot has been closed to all members of the public from 16 July to 30 July 2021. All individuals who work in or visited the restaurant have been placed on quarantine, and will be tested during quarantine.
Condition of confirmed cases
9. 184 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently 7 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and 1 in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

10. There is continuing evidence that vaccination helps to prevent serious disease when one gets infected. Over the last 28 days, 17 local cases required oxygen supplementation, were admitted to ICU or passed away. 13 are unvaccinated, 4 are partially vaccinated and none was fully vaccinated.

Progress of national vaccination programme
11. As of 15 July 2021, we have administered a total of 6,570,666 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme. The total number of doses administered was 6,570,666, covering 4,096,705 individuals. 2,545,838 individuals have completed the full vaccination regimen, consisting of 71,877 recovered persons who received at least one dose and 2,473,961 who received their second dose.
