From 1 April 2011, Bright Vision Hospital (BVH) will become a subsidiary of Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd (SHS).
This ownership transfer is made upon the request of BVH. As a Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO), BVH had faced significant challenges in sustaining its medical capabilities to provide the required level of care to its patients. The BVH Board of Directors felt that it did not have the expertise to maximise BVH’s full potential as a community hospital, and requested that MOH or its entities take over ownership of BVH.
Since last year, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) has been working with BVH in delivering patient care at BVH. This partnership has allowed BVH to leverage on the management and clinical expertise of SGH. Several improvements have been made to BVH’s workflow and operational efficiency. The number of patients at BVH had increased from around 150 patients in April 2010 to around 200 patients currently.
With this transfer, SHS and BVH will continue to improve patient care to benefit patients directly. BVH will undergo renovations which are fully funded by MOH to upgrade its facilities and increase its bed capacity. In addition, BVH will continue to receive funding support from the MOH, as well as retain its Charity and Institute of Public Character status. These will help to ensure that services at BVH continue to remain affordable, especially for needy patients.
