The Ministry of Health has suspended the tobacco licence of a snack stand retailer at 10 Tampines Central 1, Pavilion Cineplex Lobby Area for 3 months from 15 November 2000 to 15 February 2001.
The licensee, Mr Ng Teck Hock, contravened section 10(1)(a) of the Smoking Act on 8 October 1999 and 14 June 2000 and was convicted of 2 counts of selling tobacco products to a person below the age of 18 years. He was fined $1000 and $1200 respectively for the offences.
All tobacco retailers are reminded that it is an offence under the Smoking (Control of Advertisements and Sale of Tobacco) (Licensing) Regulations (1998), to sell tobacco products to a person below the age of 18 years, punishable with a maximum fine of $5,000 on conviction.
