The Ministry of Health will be conducting a survey to study the incidence and nature of functional disability among Singaporeans. This is to enable the Ministry to better determine the need for step-down care in Singapore. This is also part of the overall study in working out the details of the Severe Disability Insurance scheme. An independent research company, Forbes Research Pte Ltd, has been commissioned to carry out the survey.
A total of 30,000 people will be randomly selected and interviewed over the telephone and some of the interviews will be followed up by face-to-face interviews. Phase one of this study is expected to start in end-March and span a period of two months. Phase two will be conducted six months after Phase one. The total survey period is expected to last a year.
The Ministry looks forward to the full support and participation by selected Singaporeans in the survey. We would also like to reassure all respondents that the information collected will be kept confidential.
