Question No. 6789
To ask the Minister for Health whether there are any ongoing or planned studies in Singapore to explore the usefulness of body roundness index as a predictor of obesity and related health risks for the population.
Answer
There is currently insufficient evidence on the usefulness of Body Roundness Index as a predictor of obesity and related health risks for Asian populations. The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor research findings, and in the meantime, use predictors such as waist circumference and body mass index for our national screening programme.
