Application for the registration of acupuncturists will start on 8 Feb 2001 and close on 8 Mar 2001. Applicants who have submitted fully-completed application forms with the complete set of required supporting documents will be notified of the outcome by post by 7 Apr 2001.
Applicants will be notified according to the following three categories:
Those who are eligible for direct registration;
Those who are required to pass the Acupuncture Appraisal (AA) before registration; and
Those who are required to attend the Acupuncture Upgrading Training Course (AUTC) and to pass the Common Acupuncture Qualifying Examination (CAQE) before registration.
The first AA will be conducted in early May 2001. The first AUTC was started in September 2000 and will end in Jun 2001. MOH is working with the Singapore TCM Organisations Coordinating Committee (STCMOCC) to conduct the second AUTC in April 2001 for those who have missed the first AUTC. The first CAQE will be conducted in July 2001 and a second one in September 2001.
This arrangement will enable all applicants who fall into categories (b) and (c) to have sufficient opportunities to attend AUTC and pass AA and CAQE before registration. MOH plans to register all acupuncturists by 1 Jan 2002. After that, only registered persons with valid practising certificates will be allowed to practise acupuncture.
As incomplete application forms or applications without the complete set of required supporting document will be rejected, applicants are strongly advised to hand in the completed application forms in person to ensure that the application form is properly filled in and a complete set of required supporting documents is submitted. These are to be submitted to the TCM Practitioners Board by 5.30 pm on 8 Mar 2001 at the following address:
TCM Practitioners Board
Registration Counter
Level 2, Institute of Health
3 Second Hospital Avenue

All applicants are urged to submit their applications as early as possible and not to wait till the last few days before the applications close, so as to allow the Board sufficient time to process applications.
