There are no new cases with onset of illness after the closure of the Prima Deli factory. To date, a total of 18 food poisoning incidents involving 153 cases associated with the consumption of Prima Deli food items have been reported. All these cases consumed food items that were purchased prior to the closure.
Cake samples taken from outlets tested positive for Salmonella. A total of six food handlers at the Prima Deli factory and two food handlers in a Prima Deli outlet have tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis.
Investigations are still ongoing to identify the source of the outbreak. The public is reminded to discard all food items purchased from Prima Deli. Anyone with symptoms of Salmonellosis should seek immediate medical attention.
The public is advised to observe good hygiene practices, such as washing your hands with soap and water frequently, especially after toilet visits, changing diapers and before eating or preparing food.
