Three outstanding nurses who have demonstrated high standards of professionalism and excellent service will receive the President's Award for Nurses this year. They will receive their awards from President S R Nathan at the Nurses Day Istana Reception on 30 July 2009. Into its tenth year, the President's Award for Nurses is the national accolade for the nursing profession. The prestigious award recognizes exemplary nurses for their outstanding work performance, and their significant contribution to the profession and the community over a sustained period of time.
The three award winners for this year are Mrs Lee Siu Yin, Director of Nursing, National University Hospital, Ms Sylvia Lee Ling Ling, Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), Dover Park Hospice and Ms Lim Siok Hong, Senior Nurse Clinician, K K Women's and Children's Hospital. They have been awarded the honours because of their excellent service and significant contributions made to the profession and the community at large. They are role models who motivate and inspire their peers and younger nurses through their passion and commitment to the profession
The award winners will each receive a trophy, a certificate as well as $6,000 which can be used to attend conferences and training programme of their choice for professional and personal enrichment.
