The President's Award for Nurses is a national award given in recognition of the outstanding performance and the significant contributions nurses make to the profession and to the community. Nurses form the backbone of healthcare services and they play a vital role in caring for the sick and in building a healthy nation.
The award will be presented by the President of the Republic of Singapore for the first time on Nurses' Day, 1 August 2000. The award is for professional development and personal enrichment. It includes an expense-paid attendance at an international conference, a trophy and a certificate. A maximum of 3 awards will be given.
NOMINATIONS
Nominations are invited from members of the public, including patients and their relatives, nurses, nursing students, doctors, and other healthcare professionals. Nomination forms are obtainable at the following places:

THE NOMINEES
Nominees for the award should be trained nurses and midwives who:
are in full-time service in hospitals and other institutions
show outstanding professional competence, resourcefulness, and innovation in the various fields of nursing
are role models in upholding personal and professional integrity
nurture, challenge and inspire young nurses to achieve their potential
are committed and dedicated in imparting professional expertise in community outreach and voluntary services.
