From 1 June 2010, patients at community hospitals and day rehabilitation centres will enjoy more out-of-pocket savings with higher Medisave withdrawal limits for their treatments.
Currently, the maximum withdrawal limit at community hospitals is $150 per day of inpatient stay, subject to an annual cap of $3,500 per calendar year. From 1 June 2010, the daily withdrawal limit will be raised from $150 to $250 per day. The annual cap will be increased from $3,500 to $5,000. Together with the implementation of an enhanced nine-tier subsidy framework and increased daily norm costs for community hospitals, it would be cheaper for patients to be right-sited from the acute hospital to community hospitals.
The Medisave withdrawal limits for Day Rehabilitation Centres (DRCs) will be raised from the current $20/day to $25/day. The annual cap will remain unchanged at $1,500 per year.
The Ministry of Health will continue to work closely with providers to step up capabilities and raise the clinical standards of community-based care.
