Dr John Lim will be Health Sciences Authority (HSA)'s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 1 July 2006. As CEO, he will spearhead the development of the national public health and safety regulatory agency as it aims to be a world-class health sciences organization. Dr Lim has been serving as Acting CEO of the organization since late last year.
Dr Lim has served as the Director of HSA's Centre for Drug Administration and its predecessor bodies since August 2000, and Deputy CEO of HSA in September 2005. Dr John Lim is a medical doctor and a specialist in public health, with postgraduate training in Public Health from NUS and in Health Policy and Management from Harvard University. He has held various senior positions in the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, including Administrator of the Singapore Blood Transfusion Service, Deputy Medical Director of the Institute of Mental Health, Director of Human Resource in the Ministry of Health, Director of Higher Education and Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry of Education.
Having been with the HSA since its inception, Dr Lim has an in-depth understanding of HSA's administrative and health regulatory matters. As the new CEO, Dr Lim will lead HSA's effort to remain in the forefront of developments in health sciences regulations and services as Singapore builds its capabilities as an international medical hub and a centre for biomedical research.
