Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon appointed as new Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board

1 Mr Tay Beng Chuan will relinquish his role as Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioners Board with effect from 31 March 2014, after helming the Board for seven years. Under his leadership, the Board has introduced measures to further improve the standards of TCM practitioners such as implementing the Singapore Acupuncturist Registration Examination, the Supervision Framework for TCM Practitioners on Conditional Registration and more recently, the voluntary Continuing TCM Education programme.
2 The Minister for Health has appointed Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon as the new Chairman of the Board for a term from 1 April 2014 to 28 February 2017. Mrs Yu-Foo is active within the Chinese community. She served as a Member of Parliament for six terms, since she was elected in 1984. She was also the Minister of State for the then Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports before she retired from politics in 2011.
3 The Ministry of Health wishes to express its appreciation to Mr Tay for his contributions and at the same time extend a warm welcome to Mrs Yu-Foo as the new Chairman of the Board.
