Mr Chan Soo Sen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and the Minister for Health, will be in Beijing on 21 April 2000 to attend the "International Congress on Traditional Medicine (Beijing '2000)". He is there at the invitation of the Vice-Minister for Health and the Director-General of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) of the People's Republic of China.
The Congress will be held on 22-24 April 2000. During the Congress, Mr Chan will be delivering a talk on "Traditional Chinese Medicine Practice and Regulation in Singapore" at the Round Table Conference on Government Forum.
After the Congress, Mr Chan will be going to Nanjing to visit Traditional Chinese Medicine institutions. He will proceed to Suzhou to visit its municipal health department and its Traditional Chinese Medicine drug industry. He will also make a private visit to the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park. Mr Chan was the first Chief Executive Officer of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Co Ltd (CSSD) in 1994 - 1996.
Mr Chan will be returning to Singapore on 29 April 2000.
