MINISTER GAN KIM YONG TO VISIT HONG KONG TO STUDY WAYS TO ADDRESS NEEDS OF AGEING POPULATION
1. Minister for Health and Minister-in-charge of Ageing Issues, Mr Gan Kim Yong will be in Hong Kong from 2 to 5 December 2014 to study how Hong Kong is addressing the healthcare and ageing needs of its population.
2. Singapore hopes to learn from Hong Kong’s experience in developing its aged care sector and elderly care policies, as well as policies pertaining to healthcare financing. During his visit, Minister Gan will visit a range of healthcare facilities as well as community care providers which offer both health and social care for seniors. Minister Gan will also call on Hong Kong’s Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man as well as Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung.
3. Minister and Secretary Dr Ko will sign a 3-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate short term exchanges of health officials to learn from each other’s best practices in health.
4. Minister Gan will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
