1. Minister for Social and Family Development and co-Chair of the Ministerial Committee on Ageing (MCA), Mr Tan Chuan-Jin will be attending the G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Kobe, Japan from 11 to 12 September 2016.
2. The G7 Health Ministers’ Meeting in Kobe is a follow up from the G7 Ise-Shima Summit attended by the Heads of State of G7 countries. Singapore has been invited to the Meeting as an outreach country to share our experience on ageing.
3. Mr Tan will attend the session on “Attaining Universal Health Coverage Focusing on Healthy and Active Ageing”. He will outline Singapore’s approach to population ageing, underscoring the importance of viewing longevity as an opportunity and the need to adopt a whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach to respond to population ageing. He will also take the opportunity to share on Singapore’s Action Plan for Successful Ageing.
4. Mr Tan will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
