Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong to Attend the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva

Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong will attend the 72nd World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland from 20 to 22 May 2019.
2. Mr Gan will deliver a statement at a plenary session on 21 May 2019 on the importance of transforming healthcare systems to meet increasing healthcare demands, and Singapore’s commitment towards ensuring universal health coverage.
3. Mr Gan will meet with the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and other international counterparts during the visit.
4. The WHA is the decision-making body of the WHO, which brings together Health Ministers and delegations from 194 WHO Member States to discuss global health issues. This year, the delegates will discuss key public health issues including:
Universal health coverage;
Public health preparedness and response; and
Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
5. Mr Gan will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health.
