Singapore and Bahrain signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote closer cooperation in healthcare on 24 Nov 2004.
2 The MOU provides a framework for greater collaboration between healthcare establishments in both countries. It enables healthcare providers in both countries to:
(a) obtain highly qualified medical expertise from each other;
(b) send healthcare professionals for training attachments in the other country; and
(c) refer patients for advanced medical treatment and care in the other country.
3 The MOU was signed by the Minister for Health, Mr Khaw Boon Wan and his Bahraini counterpart Dr Nada Haffadh. The MOU reflects the deepening of bilateral cooperation between Singapore and Bahrain. During their initial visit to Singapore in September 2004, the Bahrain MOH delegates were impressed with Singaporeyyys healthcare system and offerings. This has led them to send a second delegation to visit Singapore this week, led by their Health Minister. Dr Nada Haffadh is here in Singapore with five Ministry officials from 22 to 26 Nov 2004, and the delegation is visiting public and private healthcare institutions.
