Launch of PSC Mid-Term Scholarships for Medicine and Dentistry

1. To nurture and develop the next generation of leaders in the public healthcare sector, the Public Service Commission (PSC) and Ministry of Health (MOH) have launched the PSC Scholarship (Medicine) and PSC Scholarship (Dentistry).
2. These mid-term scholarships are open to students who have completed at least one year of studies in local Medicine or Dentistry programmes at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University or Duke-NUS Medical School. They will be offered to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential and a desire to pursue a career in the public healthcare sector.
3. The scholarships will complement the existing Healthcare Scholarships in growing the pool of future public healthcare leaders. Scholarship holders will have opportunities to participate in various developmental programmes such as internships at MOH, MOH Holdings and public healthcare institutions, as well as dialogues and networking sessions with healthcare leaders to acquire insights into the healthcare sector. They will also participate in PSC developmental programmes.
4. The scholarships were announced by the Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong at the annual Healthcare Scholarship Awards Ceremony. “As we grow our healthcare manpower, we also need to nurture the right leaders to lead our healthcare system. The PSC Scholarships for Medicine and Dentistry will strengthen our local pipeline for public healthcare and professional leadership.”
5. The scholarship will cover tuition fees and other compulsory fees, maintenance allowances, and sponsorship for development programmes. Scholarship holders are required to serve a 6-year bond in the public healthcare sector after graduation.
