Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong will attend the 65th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland from 20-24 May 2012. This will be Minister Gan’s first visit to the WHA. He will be accompanied by a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Health.
The WHA will discuss important public health issues such as pandemic influenza preparedness, implementation of the International Health Regulations, and the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases.
The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and is attended by Health Ministers and delegations from 194 WHO Member States.
Minister Gan will also be meeting counterparts from the ASEAN countries, Japan and Germany at the WHA to renew ties and explore potential collaborations in healthcare.
