Health Minister to attend the 63rd session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Western Pacific Regional Committee Meeting (RCM), 24-25 Sep 2012
Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong will attend the 63rd session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Western Pacific Regional Committee Meeting (RCM) and related meetings in Hanoi, Vietnam from 24-25 Sep 2012. This will be Minister Gan’s first RCM. He will be accompanied by a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Health.
2. The 63rd RCM will discuss issues such as the regional strategy on health financing, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), tobacco control, and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Besides attending Ministerial discussions, Minister Gan will also meet with his regional counterparts at the sidelines of the RCM to renew ties and explore potential collaborations in healthcare.
3. The Western Pacific RCM is an annual meeting of 37 countries and is attended by Health Ministers and senior officials from the region, as well as senior staff from the WHO.
