Health Minister at the 64th World Health Assembly 16-18 May 2011

Minister for Health Mr Khaw Boon Wan is leading a delegation of MOH officials to attend the 64th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland from 16-18 May 2011.

2. The theme for the 64th WHA is on the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases. It will also discuss other important public health issues such as pandemic influenza preparedness, children and youth heath, and strengthening global healthcare systems.  

3. During the meeting, Minister Khaw will also be meeting the WHO Director-General Dr Margaret Chan and his counterparts from other countries.

4. The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization and is attended by Health Ministers and delegations from 193 WHO Member States.
