How can we use IT and/or social media to help seniors better manage their health?
How can we encourage neighbours to provide a helping hand to their elderly neighbours?
How about a “Time Bank” system, where seniors can earn time credits for volunteering and then exchange the credits for benefits like learning courses?
Should we have a “Senior's College”, and what would it be like?
1. The Ministry of Health, the secretariat to the Ministerial Committee on Ageing, has launched a series of challenges on the eCitizen Ideas! website to collect further feedback on some of the innovative ideas that have surfaced from the earlier consultations held under the Action Plan for Successful Ageing. The focus is on the practicality of these ideas - Would they work in Singapore’s context? How can we implement these ideas?
2. Last year, the Ministerial Committee on Ageing announced plans to develop an Action Plan for Successful Ageing. Since then, we have held close to 50 focus group discussions and spoken to more than 1,300 participants on their aspirations for successful ageing in Singapore. Participants also shared many ideas and suggestions on how we can better support successful ageing, such as senior health promotion, lifelong learning and making our infrastructure more senior-friendly, so that our seniors can lead happy and meaningful lives in their silver years.
3. Two challenges have been launched so far and more will be rolled out on challenges of ageing in place and intergenerational bonding.
