We thank Mr Liu Jia Ming for his letter “Where did Healthier SG go wrong?” (17 November 2023). We have reached out to Mr Liu to check his specific circumstances.
Subsidised medication under the Healthier SG Chronic Tier will only be launched in early 2024. As such, Mr Liu’s wife only benefited from existing Merdeka Generation (MG) subsidies, when she visited the clinic recently.
With the Healthier SG Chronic Tier, enrolled residents holding the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS), MG and Pioneer Generation (PG) cards can enjoy additional subsidies for common chronic drugs at their enrolled Healthier SG private clinics.
Private clinics generally set medication prices based on their respective operating costs and considerations. Nevertheless, these prices should be comparable to polyclinic prices for the great majority of the enrolled residents with common chronic conditions when the Healthier SG Chronic Tier comes into effect.
In addition, nationally recommended vaccinations and health screenings will be fully funded by the Government for eligible residents enrolled in Healthier SG.
More details of the whitelisted medications under the Healthier SG Chronic Tier will be made available in January 2024.
