The Community Health Assist Scheme, or CHAS, enables Singaporeans to receive subsidised outpatient treatments for acute and chronic conditions and basic dental services at GP and dental clinics near their homes. With the income criteria raised from $800 to $1,500 per capita monthly household income, and the age criteria lowered from 65 to 40 years, more middle and lower income Singaporeans can now benefit from CHAS. It will also enable Singaporeans to manage their chronic diseases early and avoid unnecessary complications later.
