The Invitation to Tender for the Provision of ElderShield has closed on 30 April 2007. Three Tender Offers were received from Aviva, Great Eastern Life and NTUC Income.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) will select suitable insurers based on the proposed premiums, the effectiveness of proposed business plans for ElderShield, expertise and experience in relation to severe disability or long-term care plans, and level of investment in resources for ElderShield.
MOH will also finalise the changes to be made to ElderShield, taking into account public feedback and responses gathered via our public consultation platforms. Members of the public can continue to provide their feedback to the Ministry.
The Tender results and changes to be made to ElderShield will be announced in due course. The Reformed ElderShield will be rolled out on 30 September 2007.
Quote from Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Minister for Health
"The tender details are being studied. This is a complicated tender and we are breaking new ground with the proposed supplements scheme; so we are taking our time to study the offers and to see the best solution for Singaporeans. I am pleased to see 3 serious bids on the table; and at first glance, the proposed premiums are competitive too."
