APPOINTMENT OF INAUGURAL BOARD OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES AGENCY
24 March 2025
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has appointed the inaugural Board for the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA), a new Statutory Board that will be established on 1 April 2025.
2. The Board of CDA will be chaired by Professor Kenneth Mak, Director-General of Health, MOH. As the Government’s chief medical advisor, Professor Mak oversees both the clinical and public health services looking after Singaporeans and was at the forefront of Singapore’s public health response to COVID-19. He is also the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Consortium for Clinical Research and Innovation, Singapore, and a board member of several key healthcare organisations, including the MOH Holdings, National University Health System, and the National Medical Research Council.
3. As Chairman of the inaugural CDA Board, Professor Mak will help chart the strategic direction of CDA and support the integration and coordination of national policy and operations for infectious diseases across the healthcare sector. Professor Mak will also lead CDA to pursue MOH's policy goals in enhancing Singapore’s preparedness and response to future public health challenges and pandemics.
4. Professor Mak will be supported by other members of the CDA Board, who collectively have expertise in a wide range of areas in addition to healthcare, including artificial intelligence, data science, communications, human resources, organisational development, finance, audit and risk management. Together, the Board will guide CDA in its mission to safeguard Singapore from infectious disease threats and build upon Singapore's strong foundation in infectious disease management. The list of CDA Board members is at the Annex.
