The Singapore Blood Transfusion Service will be holding its Annual Presentation of Awards to Champion Blood Donors on Thursday, 4 May 2000 at 5.00 pm at the Singapore Power Building, 111 Somerset Road, Singapore 238164. Mr Chan Soo Sen, Parliamentary Secretary for Health, will be the Guest-of-Honour officiating at the Presentation.
This year's ceremony is held in conjunction with World Health Day 2000 the theme of which is "Safe blood starts with me. Blood saves lives." Blood is a special and unique gift presented anonymously from the donor to the recipient who therefore has no opportunity to express his gratitude to the donor. This ceremony is an opportunity for the Singapore Blood Transfusion Service to express appreciation to our regular blood donors on behalf of all recipients who have benefited from their many years of commitment and contribution to the National Blood Programme.
At the ceremony this year, a total of 221 Champion Blood Donors will be receiving their awards, including 17 ladies. 23 male "GOLD" donors (Gift-of-Life Donor) as well as 2 ladies will be honoured for making 100 and 70 donations respectively.
