To ask the Minister for Health for each year over the next five years, what are the hiring targets for (i) nurses (ii) allied health professionals and (iii) support care staff, in order to meet the healthcare workforce size of 82,000 by 2030.
Answer
1 As our population ages, we can expect demand for healthcare services and manpower to increase. To attain a healthcare workforce size of 82,000 nationally by 2030, the Ministry of Health will need to recruit about 6,000 nurses, Allied Health Professionals and support care staff annually.
