1. About 500,000 eligibility letters for the Merdeka Generation Package were mailed out by end April 2019. All seniors who are eligible for the Merdeka Generation Package can expect to receive their eligibility letter by this week.

2. As announced at Budget 2019, the Merdeka Generation Package aims to encourage our seniors to stay active and healthy, and provide greater assurance with healthcare costs in their silver years.
3. Seniors who are born from 1 January 1950 to 31 December 1959 and became Singapore Citizens by 31 December 1996 are eligible for the Merdeka Generation Package. Those who are born on 31 December 1949 or earlier, became Singapore citizens by 31 December 1996 and did not receive the Pioneer Generation Package, will also be eligible for the Merdeka Generation Package.
Next Steps
4. The Silver Generation Office (SGO) has started outreach efforts from April 2019 to engage Merdeka Generation seniors on the details of the Package, as well as connect them to volunteering and learning opportunities. Merdeka Generation seniors can expect visits from Silver Generation Ambassadors at their homes, workplaces and community nodes where they are likely to gather, such as faith-based organisations and hawker centres.

6. Merdeka Generation seniors can look forward to receiving their Merdeka Generation Package Welcome Folder and Merdeka Generation card in the mail from late June 2019.
