We have our 4th Influenza A (H1N1-2009)-related death today. She is a 42-year-old Chinese female with thyroid disease. She sought medical treatment at CGH's Emergency Department on 18 July 09 after five days of fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. She was transferred to the ICU on the same day. She passed away this morning and the cause of death is pneumonia, with Influenza A (H1N1-2009) infection as a contributing factor.
New ICU cases
We have two more admissions to ICU today. One is a 24-year-old Indian man with no known risk factors. He sought treatment at TTSH's Emergency Department on 23 July 09 after one day of cough, headache and fever. He was transferred to the ICU today because of low oxygen saturation. Laboratory tests confirmed he has Influenza A (H1N1-2009). He is currently in a stable condition.
The other is a 28-year-old female Indian foreigner with no known risk factors. She sought treatment at CGH's Emergency Department on 23 July after a four-day history of fever, cough and shortness of breath. She is currently on a ventilator and is in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old female with asthma admitted to TTSH's ICU on 20 July has been transferred to a general ward. There are currently five H1N1 patients still in ICU.
