13 New Cases of Locally Transmitted COVID-19 Infection

As of 5 June 2021, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed and verified that there are 13 new cases of locally transmitted COVID-19 infection, all of whom are linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine. The cases are in the community, and there are no new cases in the dormitories. There are 5 imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. Amongst the new cases today, 10 are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance, while 8 were symptomatic.

2. Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 138 cases in the week before to 129 cases in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has remained stable at 20 cases per week in the past 2 weeks. We will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through our surveillance programme.
3. Amongst the 173 confirmed cases reported from 30 May to 5 June, 67 cases have tested positive for their serology tests, 87 have tested negative, and 19 serology test results are pending.
Case Details
a) Cases in the community: 13
There are 13 cases in the community today, all of whom are linked to previous cases.
Atatcutz Singapore (348 Bedok Road) cluster
Already quarantined:
Case 64046 is a 35 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a delivery rider for Pizza Hut (Kampong Ubi Community Centre). He was tested for COVID-19 on 22 May and 26 May as part of our special testing operations for delivery riders working in Hougang, and his test results were negative. As he had been identified as a household contact of Case 63936[1] , he was placed on quarantine on 1 June. He was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June during quarantine, and developed a cough the next day. His test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 4 June. His serology test result is negative.
Case 64048 is a 46 year-old female Singaporean who works as a manager at Workforce Singapore, and has been working from home since April 2021. She is a household contact of Cases 63969 and 64049, and was placed on quarantine on 2 June. She developed a fever on 3 June. She was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June during quarantine and her test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection the next day. Her serology test result is negative for the N antigen, which suggests the presence of early infection. Case 64048 received her first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on 18 May.
Case 64049 is a 25 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a barber at Atatcutz Singapore (348 Bedok Road). He is a household contact of Cases 63969 and 64048, and was placed on quarantine on 2 June. He was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June and his test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 4 June. He subsequently developed a fever on the same day. His serology test result is negative.
Case 64057 is a 27 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a barber at Atatcutz Singapore (348 Bedok Road). He is a workplace contact of Cases 63969[2] and 64049, and was placed on quarantine on 2 June. He is asymptomatic, and was detected when he was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June during quarantine. His test result came back positive for COVID-19 on 4 June. His serology test result is negative.
McDonald’s delivery riders cluster
Already quarantined:
Case 64056 is a 21 year-old male Sri Lanka national who is currently unemployed. He resides at Wanderloft Capsule Hostel, and is a close contact of Cases 63629 [3], 63668 [4] and 63793 [5] , and was placed on quarantine on 23 May. He was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June during quarantine, and his test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 4 June. His serology test result is negative.
MINDSville@Napiri cluster
Already quarantined:
Cases 64061 and 64062 are residents at MINDSville@Napiri. They were detected from our proactive testing of residents of the Home. Both have already been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Case 64060 works as a nursing aide at MINDSville@Napiri, and was detected from our proactive testing of staff working in the Home. She has been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Already quarantined:
Case 64050 is a 25 year-old female Indonesia national who is a foreign domestic worker. She is a household contact of Cases 63721[6] and 63933[7], and was placed on quarantine on 25 May. She was tested for COVID-19 on 26 May during quarantine and her test result was negative. She developed a fever on 3 June and reported her symptom. She was tested for COVID-19 on the same day, and her test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection on 4 June. Her serology test result is negative.
Case 63714 cluster [8]
Already quarantined:
Case 64052 is a 25 year-old female Singaporean who is a student at Singapore Institute of Management and has been attending lessons from home since April 2020. She is a family member and household contact of Cases 63747[9] and 64022[10], and was placed on quarantine on 24 May. She was tested for COVID-19 infection on 26 May and 28 May during quarantine and her test results were negative. She developed a fever on 28 May and reported her symptoms the next day. She subsequently developed a cough and sore throat on 30 May but did not report her symptoms. She was tested for COVID-19 again on 3 June during quarantine, and her test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection the next day. Her serology test result is pending.
Case 64064 is a one month-old male Singaporean. He is a family member and household contact of Cases 63747, 64022 and 64052, and a family member of Cases 63714 and 63909, and was placed on quarantine on 24 May. He developed a fever on 26 May and was tested for COVID-19 but his test result came back negative. He was tested again on 4 June during quarantine, and his test result came back positive for COVID-19 on 5 June. His serology test result is pending.
Case 63922 cluster[11]
Already quarantined:
Case 64047 is a 71 year-old female Singaporean who is a Traditional Chinese Medicine physician at Bukit Timah Seu Teck Sean Tong Institution Limited. As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 63927[12], she was placed on quarantine on 31 May. She is asymptomatic, and was detected when she was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June during quarantine. Her test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection the next day. Her serology test result is negative.
Case 63964 cluster[13]
Already quarantined:
Case 64059 is a 29 year-old male Singaporean who works as an engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, and is a part-time student at Singapore Polytechnic and was last in school on 12 May. His earlier test taken on 23 May as part of our testing operations for Singapore Polytechnic was negative for COVID-19 infection. He is a family member and household contact of Case 63964, and family member of Cases 63981[14] and 64011[15], and was placed on quarantine on 1 June. He was tested for COVID-19 on 3 June during quarantine, and his test result came back positive for COVID-19 on 4 June. He subsequently developed a cough on 5 June. His serology test result is negative.
b) Cases residing in dormitories: 0
There are no cases residing in dormitories today.
c) Imported cases: 5
Amongst the 5 imported cases,
1 (Case 64058) is a Singaporean and 2 (Cases 64051 and 64053) are Singapore Permanent Residents who returned from Canada and India.
1 (Case 64054) is a Student’s Pass holder who arrived from the UAE.
1 (Case 64045) Is a Special Pass holder who is a sea crew. He arrived from Thailand on a vessel and was tested onboard without disembarking.
They had all already been placed on SHN or isolated upon arrival in Singapore and were tested while serving SHN or during isolation.

5. Epidemiological investigations are in progress. In the meantime, all the identified close contacts of the cases have been isolated and placed on quarantine, and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period so that we can detect asymptomatic cases. We will also conduct serological tests for the close contacts to determine if the cases could have been infected by them.
Update on condition of confirmed cases
6. 33 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 61,613 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.
7. There are currently 207 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 2 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit. 323 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19. 33 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.

[1] Case 63936 is a 26 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a delivery rider for Pizza Hut (Hougang Green). He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 1 June.
[2] Case 63969 is a 24 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a barber at Atatcutz Singapore (348 Bedok Road). He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 2 June.
[3] Case 63629 is a 31 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a delivery rider for Pizza Hut (Punggol Plaza). He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 23 May.
[4] Case 63668 is a 34 year-old male Malaysia national who works as a delivery rider for Pizza Hut (Havelock II). He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 23 May.
[5] Case 63793 is a 40 year-old female Singaporean who works at Wanderloft Capsule Hotel, and is a close contact of Case 63629. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 27 May.
[6] Case 63721 is a 50 year-old male Singaporean who works as an engineer at Tektronix Southeast Asia Pte Ltd. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 24 May.
[7] Case 63933 is a 39 year-old female Singaporean who is homemaker, and a family member and household contact of Case 63721. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 31 May.
[8] Case 63714 is a 74 year-old male Singaporean who is a retiree. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 24 May.
[9] Case 63747 is a 20 year-old female Singaporean who is a student at the National University of Singapore, and works part-time at Poke Theory (Novena). She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 26 May.
[10] Case 64022 is a 24 year-old male Singaporean who works as an insurance agent at Great Eastern Life and a part-time GrabFood delivery driver. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 3 June.
[11] Case 63922 is a 56 year-old female Singaporean who is a homemaker. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 31 May.
[12] Case 63927 is a 30 year-old male Singaporean who works as a technician at ST Engineering Innosparks. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 31 May.
[13] Case 63964 is a 61 year-old female Singaporean who works at NTUC FairPrice (Clementi Avenue 3). She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 1 June.
[14] Case 63981 is a 23 year-old female Singaporean who is a student at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 2 June.
[15] Case 64011 is a 51 year-old male Singaporean who works as a private hire driver for Grab. He was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 2 June.
