100 Nurses Honoured with Nurses’ Merit Award

1 A total of 100 nurses received the Nurses’ Merit Award today, in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication to the nursing profession.
2 The award recipients come from public healthcare institutions, the intermediate and long-term care sector, and private hospitals. Each received a medal, to be worn as part of the nurses’ uniform, and a cash award of $1,000, which can be used to support their professional and personal development and learning.
3 Started in 1976, the Nurses’ Merit Award is given to nurses who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding performance for the past three years, participated in professional development and have made contributions to promote the nursing profession.
4 Speaking at the award ceremony, Senior Minister of State for Health Dr Amy Khor said, “Our nursing workforce is the backbone of the healthcare sector, and the dynamo that will help drive the transformation of our healthcare system to meet the needs and challenges in the future. We will invest consistently in the recruitment, retention and training of our nurses to build a highly skilled nursing workforce that can bring better health and better care for our citizens.”
