What is the Merdeka Generation Package?
The Government has introduced the Merdeka Generation Package (MGP) to honour and thank our Merdeka Generation (MG) for their contributions.
The MGP supports the aspirations of MG seniors in their silver years by helping them to stay active and healthy and providing them better peace of mind over future healthcare costs.
What are the benefits?
The Merdeka Generation Package currently comprises the following benefits:
Benefit #1: Additional Outpatient Care Subsidies
Benefit #2: CareShield Life Additional Participation Incentives
Benefit #3: Additional MediShield Life Premium Subsidies
Benefit #1: Additional Outpatient Care Subsidies
You will receive more subsidies at Polyclinics, Public Specialist Outpatient Clinics (Public SOCs) and Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) GP and Dental clinics.
For enrollees under Healthier SG, nationally-recommended screening and vaccinations will be fully subsidised at their enrolled Healthier SG Primary Care Provider. They may also receive enhanced subsidies for selected chronic medications under the Healthier SG Chronic Tier at their enrolled Healthier SG GP clinic. Please visit Healthier SG for more information.

From 1 November 2020 onwards, MG seniors who meet the criteria for vaccination under the National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS) are eligible for subsidies for nationally-recommended vaccinations. | |

Clinics under the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS)
All MG Seniors will receive more subsidies at CHAS General Practitioner (GP) and dental clinics. Please find list of clinics under the CHAS.

Polyclinics and Public Specialist Outpatient Clinics (SOCs)
All MG Seniors will receive an additional 25% off their remaining bill for subsidised services and medications at polyclinics and public SOCs. Merdeka Generation benefits for outpatient treatments are available at the following public healthcare institutions:

Benefit #2: CareShield Life Additional Participation Incentives
$4,000 participation incentives to join CareShield Life on or before 31 December 2023
$3,000 participation incentives to join CareShield Life from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024. This will be spread over ten years and used to offset their annual CareShield Life premiums.
CareShield Life is a national long-term care insurance scheme targeted at severe disability and is an enhancement of the ElderShield scheme.
In November 2023, the Ministry of Health announced that the participation incentives for CareShield Life would be extended for another year, until 31 December 2024.
Pioneers will receive participation incentives of $1,875 ($187.50 per year) and additional participation incentives of $1,125 ($112.50) if they join and are covered under CareShield Life by 31 December 2024.
This is in addition to any means-tested premium subsidies that MG seniors may receive.

Benefit #3: Additional MediShield Life Premium Subsidies
From 1 July 2019, Merdeka Generation seniors receive additional Merdeka Generation Subsidies of 5% of their annual MediShield Life premiums, increasing to 10% after they turn 75 years old, regardless of their household monthly income or the Annual Value of their home. This is on top of the above Premium Subsidies that the seniors may receive.

Who is eligible?
Singapore citizens who:
Were born from 1 January 1950 to 31 December 1959, and
Became a Singapore citizen on or before 31 December 1996.
OR
Were born on or before 31 December 1949, and
Became a Singapore citizen on or before 31 December 1996, and
Did not receive the Pioneer Generation Package.
Those eligible for the Merdeka Generation Package would have received a notification letter in May 2019. Please keep your NRIC address updated with ICA..
How do I apply?
You may check your eligibility for the Merdeka Generation Package via:
LifeSG App: Merdeka Generation (MG) Seniors who have successfully logged onto the LifeSG app via SingPass can view their MG e-card. Download the LifeSG app today: Android, iOS.
Singpass Mobile App: MG Seniors who are Singapore Citizens may log on to their SingPass mobile app to view their eligibility status for the Merdeka Generation Package.
