What is an Integrated Shield Plan?
Integrated Shield Plan (IP) is a private medical insurance plan, offered by private insurers, that provides you with additional coverage on top of what you already have under MediShield Life. They are made up of two components:
MediShield Life component offered by CPF Board sized for Class B2/C bills in public hospitals; and
Additional private insurance component offered by a private insurer targeted at covering higher ward classes or private hospitals.
MediShield Life is included in all Integrated Shield Plans. MediShield Life will cover you for life, including your pre-existing conditions. This is the case even if your pre-existing conditions are not covered under the additional portion of your Integrated Shield Plan from your private insurer.
These are the Integrated Shield Plans available on the market.
How do Integrated Shield Plan premiums and claims work?
The private insurer you have taken the plan out with acts as your single point of contact. They will act on CPF Board’s behalf for premium collection and claims disbursement for the MediShield Life component of your Integrated Shield Plan.
The MediShield Life component of your Integrated Shield Plan is fully payable by MediSave.
The additional private insurance component is also payable by MediSave, but only up to the following Additional Withdrawal Limits:
$300 per year for those at age 40 years and below on their next birthday
$600 per year for those at age 41 to 70 years on their next birthday
$900 per year for those at age 71 years and above on their next birthday
Any excess would need to be paid in cash.
How do I find out if I have an Integrated Shield Plan?
To check if you already have an Integrated Shield Plan, you can log in to the Healthcare dashboard on CPF Board’s website via Singpass to view your coverage status under the ’Health insurance’ section.
