CareShield Life
CareShield Life is a long-term care insurance scheme that provides basic financial support should a policyholder develop severe disability, especially during old age. This can help cover the costs of personal care and medical care that you might need for a prolonged duration.

ElderShield
ElderShield was introduced in 2002 as a basic long-term care insurance scheme targeted at severe disability. It provided payouts of $300/month for 5 years or $400/month for 6 years upon severe disability, depending on the scheme you joined.
With the introduction of CareShield Life, the ElderShield scheme is no longer open for new applications.

MediSave care
Singapore Residents aged 30 and above with severe disability can withdraw up to $200 from either their own MediSave account or their spouse’s account, for their long-term care. The amount that can be withdrawn depends on the MediSave account balance at the point of withdrawal.

The Ministry of Health provides subsidies for eligible Singaporeans and Permanent Residents who are receiving Residential Long-Term Care (LTC) services.

MediFund
MediFund provides a safety net for Singaporeans who face financial difficulties with their remaining bills after Government subsidies, insurance and MediSave.
MediFund supports medical treatments or services incurred at public healthcare institutions, community hospitals and approved long-term care facilities.
Interim Disability Assistance Programme for the Elderly (IDAPE)
Interim Disability Assistance Programme for the Elderly (IDAPE) is a government assistance scheme for older Singaporeans with severe disability. It is for those who could not join ElderShield when it started in 2002 because they had exceeded the maximum entry age, or had pre-existing disabilities.

ElderFund
ElderFund is a discretionary assistance scheme for Singaporeans with severe disability, who are not eligible for CareShield Life, ElderShield, or IDAPE.

Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme
The Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme (PioneerDAS) is part of the Pioneer Generation Package. It provides financial assistance to Pioneers who need permanent help with at least 3 out of 6 Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
